"The Nugget Brothers explore that dark world of psych-pop alt-country haunted by Gram Parsons."

Even if the other four cuts on this EP weren't any good, this eponymous disc from New Jersey's The Nugget Brothers would be worth buying just for the infectious, slightly twisted and dark Wall of Voodoo goes twangy country opener "Piggy". Thankfully there's plenty more here to love like the sing-songy pop hooks of "Styletown" and the quirky sounds of the dark, twangy "Stuck". The only setback here is that there's only five songs. Hopefully a full-lengther is somewhere right around the corner.

"Upon listening to your music, I was reminded of that peculiar, alt-country sound similar to that of groups like The Handsome Family or Souled American. Its a great blend of odd ball tex-mex and indieunconventionality"

"A Montclair-based three-piece with a drum machine named Dr.Rhythm and a healthy sense of humor, these former members of King Penguin, Doogs, and Side Kixx produce a droll, deadpan, caustically rockin' alt.country flavored stew that wouldn't sound out of place during a Sparks/Ween/Stan Ridgeway/XTC radio block."
